The road to recovery. Yeah, I hate
being sick!
My body clock woke me up at around
6:30. I found that to be a great time to get up cough, spit and then
have some tea. I also found it to be a great tome to go back to
sleep. In the short time I was awake I could tell that I'm starting
to feel better. Am I ready to break any land speed records? No.
Actually, my feet are not all the interested in hitting the ground at
that hour. After I was done with some early morning puttering I went
back to bed and slept well until around 9:30. My fever is down (
though it did fluctuate a little during the day) so I knew the best
thing I could do now is start to circulate. Rest is essential but the
body needs to stay strong too. So I made myself some breakfast, put
away the dishes and started to wash some bedding. I allowed slave
barb to sleep to around 11:00. She needed the extra rest since her
cold beat the hell out of her most of the week. I must say she did a
great job of staying strong as hell during her illness. She did great
service too even when ill. SHH, don't tell her I told you that!
My goal today is to not do too much.
I'm going to have slave barb do the grocery shopping solo, she will
also go to the bank. I on the other hand plan on taking one trip out
today and that will be to Wal-Mart. The primary reason will be to get
my glasses tightened up and adjusted and the secondary reason will be
to pick up the new AC/DC CD.
The AC/DC CD is only available at
Wal-Mart. They signed some kind of exclusive mega-deal with the
chain. There's something terribly wrong about purchasing rock n roll
from Wal-Mart. It's all part of the corp. destruction and softening
of the rock n roll industry. I hope this doesn't happen to our
leather community. But I guess to a point it has. At least we can't
purchase collars and Masters Caps at Wal-Mart.
The Who started it in the eighties
when they were the first band to offer exclusive seats to Amex
customers only. Then in the nineties the Stones ( at that time)
offered to sell their latest live CD and DVD through Best Buy only.
Since then it's common place to
purchase preferred seating through AMEX card holders. To add my own
insult to my own injury I did it for my Metallica tickets. I got
great seats too. That's a long cry from bribing the guy at
Ticketmaster ten bucks the night before to punch up my tickets first.
Those were the days.
Now in the age of the Internet, online
sales and the 98.7% death rate of independent music shops and
over priced chains like Sam Goody the
only resource left ( aside from the wonderful i tunes) is Wally World
and Best Buy and other Corp. mega chains.
I have said it before and I will say
it again, the youth of today is the soft generation. Hard core Hip
hop artists wearing gangster fashion and singing songs in a bland
R&B style about missing the girl and lame emo rockers making
noise in button up shirts. Sell to the masses and write with no soul.
Last year I wrote about the giant sell out of Rock N Roll. Now I
need to ask is it even a sell out anymore? At what point in the
system does selling out become the standard SOP. If softness and
lameness is the standard then all the new comers are not selling out,
they are just part of a system that sold them out a generation and a
half ago. Food for thought? Any comments?
Anyway after the disgrace of
purchasing music at Wal-Mart I went home and listened to the AC/DC
record. It's good, not great but it's good.
I also did some reading as well as
cleaning. By around 3:30 my body ran out of gas. Although I'm feeling
much better my strength is no way near what it needs to be. I'm glad
I was smart enough to take it easy today.
Tonight will be a mellow night but a
good night. I plan on chilling on the couch with slave barb and
watching the movie / documentary Bigger , Faster Stronger. This is
supposed to be an excellent movie about steroids in sports. It comes
from the view of pro and con. This movie is supposed to be quite the
conversation maker.
