America always seems to have a strong need to label everything and in this piss poor economy a new label has emerged. The label of the Summer season is staycation. With the price of food and fuel having an impact on every part of our lives Americans are not taking long trips be it via air or the road. They are staying home on their three day weekends or not straying too far from their abode. This word staycation is very fascinating to me. The reason this is so fascinating is because as a kid growing up my family never went on a long vacation. No Disney, no nothing. I had no brothers or Sisters and we still didn't go anywhere. It was weird. To be honest I really didn't care either. My makeshift parental family was not poor. They were middle of the road middle class family. They are the ones that decided to never go anywhere. Economic circumstance was not the deciding factor. My Aunt ( and most everyone in her family) is afraid of almost everything. Those fears were embedded in me for a very long time but needless to say I'm way over that. Slave barb had a lot to do with that. Her family was always gather up the six kids and drive to Florida. They had more of a feel for adventure. So, as a kid I was the one when we were to stand up and say where we went on our Summer vacation I would stand up and say we don't go on a vacation while the other kids said they went to Disney, Aunt Mable's house or some other tourist trap that Americans fall into. So what's the moral of this story? Myself and slave barb stayed in this Memorial Day weekend. We did lots of work in the yard and we are having a great time together too. Yes, the sex was awesome too. So with todays shit ball economy, am I now fashionable? Were my staycations throughout my childhood the wave of the future? Ah, to be pioneer.

Today has been a great day. As I stated earlier we had a great day. Yes, deep down inside we would love to be at IML but lets face we can't be everywhere. So once again we worked around the house with amazing results. We got laundry done, we changed the screen in the storm door that's in the front. I bought a nice rainbow patterned thermometer to hang on the fens. Yes, there's significance behind the rainbow. You know it! We mounted hooks on the patio overhang? So you ask, why would you do that? I'm glad you asked. The hooks are hanging so we can hang curtains ( easy on easy off curtains)

and play and fuck on the patio without getting arrested because the neighbors are uptight right wing overly hetero self righteous, hypocritical, middle class, narrow minded poops. In other words I need to get my perv on outdoors and you aint gonna stop me!

The other thing that we did today was the art project that I spoke of in a previous post. We made paper. Ok, technically we really didn't make paper. It's not like we chopped down a tree and processed paper. What really happens is you break down pre-existing paper and re-constitute it to a new decorative form of paper. We had a lot of fun doing it. I actually thought the project was going to take longer but the the entire project only took about an hour. That's ok, we really are not done yet. We still need for the paper to dry. Once it drys then we can move forward and think about what to do with our new found homemade paper.

It's safe to say the the yards are looking good. Tonight we will be grillin' up some chicken and potatoes for dinner. There's not too much on TV tonight. I know we will watch The Tudors and I can pretty much bet that we will have a good Sunday discussion too.

When I was a little kid, we almost always went one of two places for "vacation", the beach/river or the to visit family in the mountains. One year, we did actually pack up the RV and me, my cousins who was my age, my brother and I think his girl friend and my parents wen to Disney World.

Then, we started building the house in NC and spent every weekend and holiday there, for the next three years. After that, we didn't seem to go much of anywhere.

I get jealous of the places that others have been just because I've always wanted to travel. But, on the other hand, I do much better if I'm going somewhere to do something specific...like Leather conferences!!

I'm presenting at GLLA this year. You guys gonna be there?
