We were up around ten and slave barb made yummy breakfast burritos. That was a hot way to start the day. The plan for the day is pretty simple. We are going to the Court Tavern this afternoon to see the band The World Inferno Friendship Society. I have said this in the past, they are not my style but they are damn creative and damn good. I like them because they are cool people and twenty years ago I was in a band with their lead singer. Yes, I do dig their energetic live show too. Slave barb on the other hand loves their music and I enjoy watching her sing and shake her thing when we see them play live. The band has a hell of a world wide cult following so today the band is dong two shows at a very small club that only holds about 200 people. They could easily play the Starland in NJ which holds 2000 but they stayed true to their roots and played in the town where they pretty much started. I decided to go to the early show for two reasons. If the show is sold out (which it was) we could always try again for the second show. If the kids trashed the club ( which is what happened) then we saw the first show. So we got to the club and the line was not long (yet). We were just about to settle in on the line and the band arrived. We hooked up with the people that we know in the band and got in for free. We also got a chance to catch up and talk to our friends in the band. Soon it was show time. The first two bands may have been some of the worst bands I have ever seen in my life. On the other hand World Inferno were excellent. Unfortunately they had to cut their set a bit short because the crowd was so frenzied that they started busting out the low drop ceiling tiles and then tearing down the metal framing. It was getting ugly. The band asked the kids to leave the ceiling alone but that really didn't help much. So the band cut their set short and then hid from the promoters and club owners so they would not get yelled at. We left after the first show and decided to stay home and miss the second show, if there even was a second show. Here's a little observation about today's youth. Yes, the youth is energetic and showed their love for the band but I got to say this. The white middle class youth of the millennium is the soft generation. They are so soft. There's no real edge or threat what so ever. It's safe to say that video games, the Internet and political correctness has softened the white middle class youth to a fault. I saw Samuel L. Jackson on TV the other day and he was saying that there's no rebellion in this county from the youth because they are not scared. Why are they not scared? There's no draft! They have no real worries. They can live in their video game and Internet shell and feel safe. In my day it was gas lines and then we were Reagan Youth. Was their a draft? NO but were we scared to death of Reaganomics and the idea that Patriotism meat hating everyone that's not American. Oh yes, we were scared. We were also scared of the clergy in the White house. These kids are not old enough to see how we have come full circle since their birth. Nintendo and and Sony Playstations just don't teach that and neither do the schools. When we got home slave barb made a great dinner and then we sat in and watched a odd yet erotic move called The Night Porter.
