I woke up earlier than needed because work called me with a problem that I needed to resolve. After the call I stayed awake for a while thinking of all the flirting, play and fun that this weekend offered. I thought about how great our classes and step down speeches went. I thought about how lucky I am. After some thinking I fell back to sleep. When I woke up again a thought crossed my mind, I can’t believe that a year ago we actually won. Wow. We did it. Again, I feel lucky. We both got up and finished packing. We headed downstairs and had breakfast. That was really great because we got to say so long too many friends. Eventually Brick and lara met us in the lobby. I felt bad for Brick, I think he got food poisoning (I’m hoping it’s not the Flu) he was in real bad shape. Either way we all made it to the airport. Once again our flight was right on time and there wasn’t even a wait to take off. Of course something had to go wrong and it did. Once we took off I fell asleep. barb on the other hand was awake and noticed that the aircraft seemed to have trouble taking off and maintaining altitude. Shortly after the troubles, I woke to the pilot announcing that they were going to turn the plane around back to Dallas due to mechanical issues. So back to Dallas we went. Luckily this is an American Airline hub so they got us on another plane in an hour. They loaded us back on the place and away we went. This time out we got to experience the most nasty flight crew ever. They were yelling at people, including me and were impatient and curt with us. I mentioned to the flight attendant that I needed help finding a place to put my carry on luggage because everyone kept putting their coats in the storage area. She yelled at me and said I should just check my bags. I’m thinking to myself I’m only aloud one checked bag and so I brought on a carry on. These flight attendants had no care about their job and no knowledge about how to deal with people or organize luggage. When we landed we got stuck on the runway for about an hour because there were no flight crews available to gate the plane and when we were leaving the plane the pilot was cool but the flight attendants stayed in the back of the plane and acted like we were not there. That was amazing. The problem is you can’t yell or talk back to these people. They feel they have lots of power because even if you calmly disagree with them they will call an air Marshall or ground police. You can’t win. It’s amazing that they were acting like this considering there was a death on a plane that may have been due to negligence this very weekend. We finally got home, three hours later than we expected. Actually, when it comes to traveling that’s not too bad. We settled in, had a quick dinner and unpacked the important stuff. Myself and barb had a great conversation about the household and our expanded relationships. That was awesome. We also watched the L Word and LA Ink. Last year I came home from SPLF a day late and feeling victorious because we won the title competition. This year I came home from SPLF three hours late feeling victorious because my peers said it was a job well done. Welcome to my next stage of leather culture. I can’t wait to embrace and tackle it!
