We got up around 8:30 and we are looking forward to a nice day together. Especially since I'm going to have a bootblacking date with slave barb this evening. I nudged slave barb to wake up and the first words out of her mouth were my thighs really hurt. I asked why? She replied, some crazy man kept beating me with sticks last night. I found that to be very hot! Before we head out we better acknowledge that it's cold out today. At nine in the morning with the sun out on a clear day the cars are still iced and frosted over. COLD! This afternoon we are going to go by some new ornaments for the tree, purchase a duck for Sunday's dinner and by a phone case for my new Nextel work phone. With any luck I'll buy some beer for tonight and possibly some dog food too. Then when we get back home we are going to finish putting up the Christmas decorations and we will erect the tree. The tree wont be decorated until Sunday but a lot will get done today. Everything went on as planned. We ended up bouncing around town for about three and a half hours. We didn't find the ornaments I was looking for but everything we needed we seemed to find. We are getting brave these days, every now and then we leave the dogs out of their crates when we go out. They were very good today. They are getting better at good behavior. After we settled in we decorated the rest of the house and we put up the tree. Once again my household is the first on the block to have the holiday lights on. I decided that we need to go out and rent a movie for tonight. I wanted to get Transformers but of course all of those were out. Good old eagle eye slave barb noticed a documentary on The NY York Dolls. They are a great band that paved the way for a lot of glam and punk bands. I wanted to see this movie for a while and so tonight I shall watch it with delight and glee.
The evening was perfect. It started it out with slave barb doing two pairs of boots. There really wasn't any play, instead it was simply relaxing and bonding. While my boots were getting done we were also watching a documentary on Bob Dylan. I'm not a big Bob Dylan fan at all. Though I will say that songs like Heavy Rain, Subterarian Homesick Blues and Tangled Up in Blue are nothing short of musical perfection. The documentary was very interesting. It was done by Martin Scoersese and it was more than a documentary about Bob Dylan. It was more of a history lesson. The film examined in detail anything and everything that influenced Bob Dylan and then went on to show the impact of the influence. The film really examined the NY Beat and Beatnik scenes as well as artists that influenced him. Artists such as Odetta , Ledbelly and Woodie Guthrie who of course went further back in time than the NY Beat & Beatnick scenes.. It was great to see a lot of footage of these very underground artists. The problem with the film is that it's five hours long. We watched about three hours and I tivo'd the rest. After investing some time in that movie we watched the Great American Band and then we watched NY Doll, The movie. Which by the way was fantastic. Looking back what a great band and what a dandy Saturday.
